What is there to say … these revolutionary players are continuing with their success! Kurt & Raf have now won 5 x 1st National races, and twice 1st & 2nd National on one race (1st & 2nd National Tulle 5,323 birds in 2018, now 1st & 2nd National Limoges 13,569 birds in 2019).
On Limoges, the two hens arrived together “Nabrina” and “Peter Pan” – a real sight to see for everyone who had gathered to watch at this All Round loft. They were tipped as favourites but, as Kurt himself says, it’s easy to be considered a favourite, but it’s a whole different task to actually win it! Following on from his 124 x top 100 National prizes in 2018, all of his old birds have either won top National prizes, or are National and Provincial Ace Pigeons … a top class team which most can only dream of!

Her results include 1st Chateauroux 214 birds; 1st Vierzon 263 birds; 1st Aurillac 126 birds; Provincial: 1st Aurillac 468 birds; 3rd Vierzon 1,473 birds; 9th Chateauroux 2,429 birds; 29th Bourges 2,228 birds. “Catoo” is daughter “Manowar” winner of 50th National Angouleme 5,030 birds.

She is half sister to “Ace Pau Coffin” 6th KBDB Ace W-Vl, 8th Ace Pigeon PIPA, 44th National Tulle 5,323 birds; “Ace Red Coffin” 5th KBDB Ace W-Vl, 128th National Chateauroux 18,499 birds.
This was not the first top 10 National prize for the loft –
Two weeks earlier they scored 4th National Vierzon 20,956 birds, and another 5 x top 100 National positions in the old and yearling races.

The Platteeuw Cannibal family is making headlines week on week … this blue hen from 2016 is a daughter of the Number One Breeding Couple, responsible for such champions as “Sea Biscuit” and “Abo Volo” with results of 20 x 1st prizes and 5 x 1st Provincials. Ace Pigeon “Lovely Godiva” won 14th KBDB National Ace All Round last year, together with 4th KBDB Ace Pigeon W-Vl Middle Distance. She had an incredible year in 2018 winning 1st Provincial Vierzon 4,232 birds (fastest from 6,082 birds); 2nd National Angouleme 4,525 birds (2nd National to “Armando” who was sold on PIPA earlier this year for Euro 1,252,000); 4th National Vierzon 20,956 birds. Here she is again, scoring 1st Club 512 birds; 1st Provincial 3,085 birds; 4th National Vierzon 20,956 birds.

3rd, 9th, 70th, 80th National from 10,770 yearlings and 29th, 33rd, 41st, 52nd National 9,689 old birds. This was a week for the boys! Normally hens have tended to dominate for the top positions in Kurt’s loft, but this weekend it was two cocks who arrived after a ten hour flight from 615 km (384 miles).

The father of 176 is “Starlight” – No.1 Breeding Star in the Platteeuw loft, and father of “Starlight Angelina” 17th National Bourges 20,759 birds.

Two minutes later, also from the “Starlight” family … this yearling cock is a grandson of “Starlight”. As a young bird he scored 13th Pontoise from 607 birds; 15th Chateaudun 285 birds; 28th Clermont 597 birds and 56th Chateaudun 589 birds. He will be one to watch for the rest of the season … His father was also competing on the Limoges National, arriving ten minutes after his son, and is Kurt’s 2nd old bird home, scoring 33rd National Limoges 9,689 birds!

Rumbeke: Raf en Kurt Platteeuw uit het West-Vlaamse Rumbeke… … zowel op professioneel vlak als op “duivengebied” mag deze vader-zoon tandem als succesvol bestempeld worden. Uniek wat de Platteeuw duiven in 2018 al op papier gezet hebben. Afgelopen weekend werd met het behalen van de 1e en 2e nationaal Tulle de spreekwoordelijk kers op de taart geplaatst en we zijn ervan overtuigd dat wanneer op het einde van het seizoen de KBDB asduiven en de asduiven in de diverse ranking lijsten zullen bekend geraken er nog een dikke laag “crème-fresh” op de taart zal mogen gespoten worden.
“THEY LAUGH AT ME BECAUSE I’M DIFFERENT, I LAUGH AT THEM BECAUSE THEY’RE ALL THE SAME”
Wie Kurt Platteeuw ooit gesproken of bezocht heeft zal het niet ontkennen… Kurt is een super gemotiveerde liefhebber. Een kerel waar de ambitie van afdruipt… een liefhebber die er in alle opzichten wat “uitspringt”. Zijn manier van duivensport beoefenen is niet zoals bij velen van ons. Zijn aanpak van de duivensport kent geen grenzen en is zo keihard dat enkel en alleen de allersterksten kunnen en mogen overleven. Velen fronsen de wenkbrauwen als ze zijn aanpak van de duivensport analyseren maar als er resultaten open en bloot op tafel gelegd moeten worden moet bijna iedereen zijn meerdere in de topprestaties van de Platteeuw duiven erkennen. Het is een systeem die niet alleen veel energie van de duiven maar ook van de liefhebber vraagt… een systeem waar elk detail belangrijk is en waar fouten genadeloos afgestraft worden. We verklaren ons nader in een 12-tal punten maar zullen komende winter nog eens naar Rumbeke afzakken om een uitgebreidere reportage te maken:
Het seizoen werd gestart met een groep van 240 vliegduiven (duivers en duivinnen). Belangrijk te weten is dat op iedere vlucht alle duiven gespeeld worden. Het woord “thuisblijvers” staat niet in de woordenboek van Kurt en Raf genoteerd.
Eind november werden alle vliegers gekoppeld. Gekoppeld is een groot woord want Kurt laat de duiven zelf hun partner kiezen. Alle schuifdeuren worden open gezet en het feest kan beginnen.
Wanneer de eerste jongen kunnen gespeend worden gaan Raf en Kurt door de hokken en al wie dan nog niet met kleine jongen zit, wordt van het hok verwijderd. Kurt “tijdens het seizoen trek ik de kaart van “chaos systeem” maar als ik naar de kweekperiode kijk dan mag het woord “chaos” ook gerust gebruikt worden. De vliegduiven huizen op verschillende hokken en op 1 hok had ik 30% meer duivinnen zitten dan duivers… dan weet je voldoende zeker. Voor de duivinnen was daar al de strijd begonnen om een duiver te bemachtigen. Jaloezie werd bij de dames al de voor een eerste maal gekieteld.
Eens alles gescheiden huizen de duivinnen in volières en de duivers op hokken met woonbakken. Kurt vertelt: “Onze jonge duiven worden volgens het systeem van de schuifdeur gespeeld en in feite worden ze ook als jaarling en als oude duif volgens dit systeem gespeeld.”
Op de dag van de inkorving mogen ze eerst nog eens trainen aan huis. Nadien worden ze volle bak gevoederd. Om 11u30 worden alle duiven in de mand gestoken en gaat Kurt ze op 10km los laten. Bij thuiskomst blijven de geslachten samen en kunnen ze doen wat ze willen. Rond 16u wordt er nogmaals gevoederd en dan gaan ze ’s avonds de mand in richting inkorflokaal.
Kurt selecteert enkel zijn eerste 6 aangeduide duiven… de andere worden willekeurig afgegeven.
Zowel oude als jaarse duivers als duivinnen werkten volgende vluchtprogramma af: Chateauroux Prov. (470km), week later Bourges Nationaal (430km), week later Limoges Nationaal (620km) voor de oude en een provinciale grote halve fond vlucht voor de jaarse duiven. Nog een week later Chateauroux Nationaal (470km), dan bleef alles 1 week thuis om dan te hervatten met Brive Nationaal (650km), een week later Gueret Nationaal (500km), een week later Limoges Nationaal (620km), nog een week later Jarnac Nationaal (630km) dan terug een week rust om dan te schitteren op Tulle Nationaal (610km) en volgende week zullen ze het seizoen afsluiten met Angoulème nationaal (620km). In totaal 10 vluchten waarbij er 5.600km in de vleugels zullen zitten !
Qua voeding is er de “Platteeuw special” mengeling van Van Robaeys. Deze wordt iedere dag gevoederd. Deze mengeling wordt enkel de laatste 2 dagen voor de inkorving verrijkt met 20% sportmengeling wanneer de duivers een fond vlucht gaan vliegen. De duivinnen worden slechts 1 voederbeurt zwaarder gevoederd.
Dagelijks wordt er veel en gevarieerd grit gegeven. Ook deze gritmengeling laat Kurt volgens zijn recept mengen.
Medisch gezien wordt er met geen enkele antibiotica meer behandeld. ” Ik trek volledig de kaart van “natuurlijke sterkte”. Ik kijk nooit naar de pedigree … spelen en nogmaals spelen… ze selecteren zichzelf en hier in Rumbeke is er geen plaats voor al wie niet op een natuurlijke manier gezond kan blijven. “De zwakkere waaien er vanzelf uit” zegt Kurt overtuigend.
Zoals eerder gezegd is een gesprek met Kurt zo interessant dat we komende winterperiode nog eens zullen langs gaan.
“JULIA” : 1e NATIONAAL TULLE
Een topper die wint… een juweeltje dat verdient als 1e getekende de mand inging voor Tulle en ontgoocheld heeft ze niet. Samen met “Rondelle” kwam ze om 13u 46min naar de spoetnik gedoken maar “Rondelle” twijfelde een paar seconden en liet “Julia” de eer om de 1e Nationale te winnen.
Een nationaal winnen is steeds iets speciaals maar een nationaal winnen met uw beste duif is toch het summum. Gaat even rustig zitten en analyseer maar eens goed het palmares 2018 van deze nationale Tulle winnares:

“RONDELLE”: 2e NATIONAAL TULLE
5 seconden na “Julia” liet “Rondelle” zich registeren. “Rondelle” is een mooie duivin gekweekt door Everaert Frederik uit Zwijnaarde. Voorheen won “Rondelle” de 75e Nationaal Brive 4.384d., 95e Nationaal Jarnac 4.940d. en de 342e Nat. Montélimar 2.042d.
“GIVE THEM A RECORD AND THEY WILL BREAK IT”
Na Tulle kon Kurt trots aankondigen dat zij dit seizoen alleen al meer dan 100 Top-100 nationaal klasseringen behaald hebben. Nooit vertoond… mensen die het kunnen weten wisten ons te zeggen dat Gebroeders Vandenheede ooit eens 65 Top-100 klasseringen in één seizoen behaald hebben, maar dit record wordt nu aan diggelen gevlogen door de Platteeuw duiven. Kurt bekent dat hij al heel het seizoen het weer in zijn voordeel heeft. “Laat het morgen constant westenwind zijn, dan zal ik nooit zoveel Top-100 nationaal noteringen halen. Maar het is nu niet zo en daarvan moeten we nu voor 100% van proficteren.”
